  • Session 3: Appy Hour--App Share & Finding Apps for Your Classroom

Session 1: (1:00-1:30) During this session we will review Marzano's instructional strategies and use them as a lens/filter for ideas shared in sessions 2 & 3.

Session 2 Offerings: (1:30-2:15 minutes)
  • iPad Basics (Paul Dwyer)
  • iPad Beyond the Basics (Pam Krambeck & Robbie Jensen, ESU#3)
    • iPad Skills (Beyond the Basics): Creating folders, moving apps, deleting apps, keyboards, adding keyboards, screen snap, saving images, web clips, camera operation
    • AirServer - Wirelessly send your iPad screen to your computer. Cost depends on number of purchases being made.
    • Sample iPad Workflow
      • Sending/Saving to other apps (DropBox, Google Drive, Evernote, etc.)

Session 3: (2:30-4:00 minutes) During this session apps and ideas for their use in the classroom will be shared. Teachers will be given time to search for curricular area apps that they will share with others.
  • ESU#3 Shared Apps
    • Math
    • Language Arts
      • Wordsalad: a free word cloud creator for the iPad ~ images can be saved to camera roll or saved as a .pdf to other apps on the device
      • Good Notes (Lite Version is Free/$5.99 Full Version: note taking app that allows for detailed hand-written notes on different papers/stationery or on a .pdf document--practice is needed but well worth it. (Penultimate is another option)
      • iBooks: Great for teaching highlighting and notetaking. Teachers love synching notes and sending notations via e-mail
      • Haiku Deck: a free presentation tool for the iPad that is simple and straight forward
