Apple updates iWork iPad apps with better file sharing

Apple released significant updates to its suite of “iWork” apps for the iPad: Pages, Numbers and Keynote.
Labeled as versions 1.2, there’s a common thread that runs through all three app updates: better file sharing options and support for more file formats, specifically Microsoft office equivalents (specifically .XLS and .PPT export).
Pages v1.2 (App Store), Numbers 1.2 (App Store) and Keynote 1.2 (App Store, $9.99 each) add two major features:
Easier file sharing makes it easier to send and receive documents from your iPad to a Mac or PC. With version 1.2 you now have the option to:
  1. Send and receive files via email
  2. Upload your documents to iWork.com

  4. Copy files to and from your MobileMe iDisk (or any standard WebDAV server)
  5. Copy files to and from any standard WebDAV server

          • Pages can now open .txt files from Mail and includes improvements for opening and saving Microsoft Word (.DOC) files
          • Numbers can now export spreadsheets to Microsoft Excel (.XLS) format
  • Keynote can export presentations to Microsoft PowerPoint (.PPT) format
  • Upgrades are available by touching the Updates button in the App Store button on your iPad
